Enclosing porchway, do we need planning permission

Hi,
I was wondering if the 2 m rule from the boundary of the dwelling and the highway applies for enclosing an existing porchway or does that only apply for new built porches. The reason I am asking is because if the rule applies to that case then that would mean a planning permission will be required. Your opinion is much appreciated.

You need to check with your local planning department. Even if 'the rules' say it should need planning permission some LAs may have a more relaxed approach.

Ring planning and ask. We did this when we were considering building a porch and they were very helpful.0
