Grouchy said:I'm tagging onto this older thread wondering if anyone has anything to add from more recent experience of banking with any of those mentioned positive or negative, or if there are any newcomers to consider. ThanksI switched my TSB account to Co-operative Bank about a year ago. Everything ticks along nicely. No complaints.Having said that, their Online Banking is somewhat idiosyncratic. For example:
- some things aren't where you might expect to find them;
- there's no need for an OTP in order to log in, but one is needed to do some things once you are logged in.
TBH, I'd like to redesign the UI from the ground up. But the bottom line is that it does work.Oh, and I've found an oddity in the phone app. It won't allow you to set up a forward-dated payment unless there's sufficient money in the account to meet the payment now. This can be a bit of a pain if I want to set up a payment that relies on my pension coming in between the time I set the payment up and the time it's to be paid. I have no choice but to set that payment up in online banking. Even that gets a bit fussy, but at least I can do it there.
My opinion of Nationwide hasn't changed since my post of 30.05.2021 above. I've now had a current account and credit card with them for nearly three years. No complaints.1 -
Another vote for Co-operative Bank. I’ve had my account with them for over 50 years. I’m not one who never switches, and have had dozens of current accounts & still run 15 sole & joint. However I’ve always used Co-op as my main account and will continue to do so unless/until I encounter a problem.Sometimes FPs take a few minutes rather than nano seconds, which annoys some people and they don’t have cheque imaging. If you can live with this, try Co-operative Bank.1
