My garden path is very prone to getting mossed over all year round and I am getting fed up scraping it off, is there a preparity substance that anyone can recommend that will at least slow down the growth of the moss but prfrably give me a long breathing space between applications/scraping.

I've used Pro klean my16 mould and algae cleaner on paving slabs . Just spray and leave on , harmless to animals and children .

Seems to kill moss and remove the green from slabs and mines still clear of both after a couple of months

What you seem to be asking for is a persistent chemical, strong enough to prevent growth, which is precisely what the EA and water authorities do not want in run-off from surfaces. For this reason, you may not find it, though there are professional pre-emergent weedkillers that do a similar job on other green plants in soil . The price would make your eyes water though and I doubt they'd work on hard surfaces.

Working on the basis that most people put way too much bleach down their toilets, I used to use that once a year when I had a patio subject to going green in a non-Thunberg sort of way and it never seemed to do plants in nearby borders any harm when I washed it off.

The moss will come back faster if there are bits left behind for it to start from and dirt rather than clean stone to grow in.  So really properly cleaning the path off and giving it an occasional sweep if soil starts accumulating will keep it moss free much longer.  I don't know what you path is made of, but is it something that can be pressure washed?

Apply last thing at night, use when rain is not forecast ( that limits it a bit )

The path is concrete 3'x2' paving slabs, about 20 of them, I have used the pressure washer previously on them but that seemed to make the moss come back quicker than just scraping it off.
No pets (of mine) to worry about and no fish ponds close by.

A man after my own heart, I use bleach in hot soapy water, the Herb Robert at the edges still comes up

I used to use bleach on my concrete path under the trees. I did try the branded stuff but the bleach worked longer.
I would apply the weak stuff about 30p a bottle and scrub in with a yard broom and leave to dry.
It was advised to do this by a previous diy-er shop owner and worried it would destroy something but it never did.
I didn't take this course lightly, I was desperate!
Have you also looked at if it's cold, shade, something nearby etc that is causing this?

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

It's the shade from the boundary fence that is causing the trouble, even in summer the path is shaded for a good part of the day, I also don't use the path much so there is little footfall to keep all the moss in check, I tend to wander through the garden rather than use the path and the entrance is only used to get to the garden.

I think I will try the bleach first as I have plenty of that already, there is nothing delicate at the sides of the path to be concerned about, I have a couple of inches of bare soil between the path and the plants.

    Thanks All.
