Passport with digital code

Need to renew passport. Plan to use passport booth in supermarkets? Any idea whether a digital code will be supplied? I understand identity could now be verified online with verifiers passport number. Will need to check the online application carefully.Thanks

My husband renewed his passport a couple of weeks ago  - used the digital code provided by the photo booth in our local Tesco.  All done and dusted within 4 days - nice new BLUE passport too!  Result!

You don't need to use a photo booth.
Just take a photo on your smartphone if you have one.
When you upload it onto the online application it checks the photo & either accepts it or rejects it instantaneously.
You can keep trying different photos until one is accepted.

Yes the passport booth in the supermarkets will give you a code as well as the actual printed out pictures.
