Ebay UK registration - "Email address is invalid. Please enter a valid email address."

Hi
My wife is trying to register with Ebay UK.
All that she has done is input firstname and surname, then enters the email address but is getting - "Email address is invalid. Please enter a valid email address."
The address is in the format xxxxxx@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.co.uk with each x mapping to a lower case letter.
I used the web chat and they did not know why either but suggested she use a different email address - she just has one.
Anyway, they also said they would send it to the tech team and get it fixed and try again in a week.
No joy today either.
We have tried many browsers, and different PCs - still the same problem.
Also set up another email address today, and that was the same over different browsers and PCs.
Before you say if it is spelt correctly, it is, and there are no spaces at the front or back.
Any ideas?

they have a list of acceptable domains and yours is not on the list
in any case, you get so many emails from ebay once you start selling it is a good idea to have a separate email - try a gmail or outlook account.1 -
Thanks for the confirmation. However "acceptable" does not equal "invalid" so is pretty poor in Ebay's part to say differently, and for the Ebay rep not to state so.They should state the difference when registering! My wife has had that email address (own domain) for 15 years and not once that I know of did she have a problem registering with any site.
In fact I have never heard of any company vetting domains as a valid email. The other one I tried today was protonmail.com, so I guess that is 'invalid' too.0 -
Have you set up SPF, DKIM and DMARC records for your own domain?
Explained here (principle doesn't just apply to Google Workspace domains):

You’re making a problem here where none exists. Get a new account, and use it for eBay.0

the reason they do it is because people can get disposable email addresses (eg 10 minute mail). ebay want 'real' email addresses (in as much as they exist) as you are selling things.0

How am I making a problem here - there is a problem? You shouldn't need to create another email address. Some people are confused using 1 email address far less 2 or more.I do not see the point in having to create another email address so it suits certain 'standards'.You don't buy another car if you are not allowed into Tesco's car park.If Ebay want to be picky about it then they need to state so, they shouldn't confuse things and say it is invalid when they mean acceptable, even when I questioned the rep.0

You are not in the real world if you think anything said by Ebay representatives makes sense or is even correct1

yes invalid is perhaps a strange word, but perhaps they mean it is invalid on their system.
Luckily there is a solution in this case0 -
