Hello All, I was due to fly out to New York the Saturday before flights were being cancelled to the US in March 2020 and because my friend has Asthma and had been in hospital we decided to cancel our booking on health grounds. After finally getting through to BA they were very good and awarded us a full voucher against our booking.
What we really want is a refund and not the voucher and was just wondering if anyone had been successful in getting a refund after being given a voucher?

No , once you have accepted the voucher then a cash refund option is not possible

As you obviously did not have fully refundable tickets and YOU cancelled, getting a voucher for the full amount is the best outcome possible.

Was the fare was booked on a non-refundable basis?  A voucher as a goodwill gesture is a decent outcome. As there's no rights to cancel and receive a full refund.

It is more than a goodwill gesture. Under BA’s ‘book with confidence’ guarantee it is contractual.
If you haven’t bought a refundable ticket, the only option is a voucher.

You did well getting a voucher, assuming you chose to cancel and they’re standard fare tickets it’s more than you are entitled to.
  • @mattyprice4004, as @silvercar said, the OP was very probably entitled to the voucher under the BA "Book with Confidence" scheme which was introduced at that time, regardless of ticket conditions.
They would only get a full refund on fully flexible tickets.
