Insurance for disabled driver

I'm looking for advice from any disabled drivers who have insured vehicles that are equipped with expensive driving controls. I have used Direct Line for the last three or four years and have been quite happy. However, I've recently spent £34,000 and brand-new driving controls. Obviously, I need to include the cost for these controls on renewal in July.
I used to use a specialised company called Fish. However, they started bumping up my annual renewal by a ridiculous amount which annoyed me because I'd been with them for many years. I might approach them again and see what kind of price they quote me.
Anyway, any advice would be very much appreciated.

I'd have thought a large proportion of people with driving adaptations for disabilities were insured through Motability, so it's probably not a terribly huge specialist market. Certainly mainstream insurers may well shy away - they'll almost certainly say it's because of the modifications to the car, since it is of course illegal to discriminate against people on the grounds of disability.
Don't forget that as of next January, it's going to be illegal for insurers to treat renewing customers differently to new ones...

My dad was with Esure when he first got his adapted vehicle and it was a right pain to insure it with them, having to list every single adaption and modification. Fish, both then and at renewal were very expensive so he stayed with Esure as they at least had all his vehicle details. Have you tried Adrian Flux?0

Could you not try any modified/specialist car insurer?
I cant see that insuring modifications for a disabled driver would be much different to insuring a car with a roll cage etc in it.
Except maybe your premium will go down rather than up.
Insurance for modified cars usually includes or can include the value of the modifications being covered at an agreed value.
