Do ask friends and neighbours for boxes.  Over the last year we have all been using online services so much - I had about thirty boxes from Amazon and hello fresh.

people will be delighted to get rid of them - and ease the guilt of the environmental impact of single use boxes.

I bought boxes for my books from www.kitepacking.co.uk, as well tape, a dispenser, and bubble wrap.  Double bunded so strong enough for books/heavy kitchen items.  Stacked really well and held up in the garage which had condensation after the frosts.  I bought the Ikea zip bags from Amazon for my bed linen and clothes.  As I'm never moving again I advertised the boxes on Facebook Sales and Wants for free, they all went within an hour.

Blimey, seems I should definitely be on the lookout for people off loading boxes then! The market has been pretty crazy here with people snapping properties up so I guess there must be a surplus. I shall have to get myself on free cycle, never used it before!

FB Marketplace is another good one to find free boxes/bubble wrap as well as looking for a local Buy Nothing group on social media, where people gift items for free.

your local removals firm will have prices for boxes to sell, old or new. That's what I did

The one thing I won't try to save money on is removals. I get them to pack and move my stuff. Worth every penny. I would rather live on bread and water for a few months! It's like the fairies have descended the day before moving, packed up, and taken away all the stress.

    People are always looking to
shift moving boxes. Check Freecycle, Gumtree, local Facebook groups etc. Your removal people may also provide boxes. Or my persona recommendation- pay for a packing service!

My removal firm supplied all materials (used) and then picked them up again after the move. Part of sustainability promise!

Thanks again for the comments guys. We will be packing our own stuff as we'll use it as a declutteting excrcise (read me claiming there is reason to keep *everything* and my partner saying we can chuck almost everything, she's ruthless!, we'll meet in the middle.. With a little grief no doubt lol).
