Hello,
I was just reading another thread on subsidence and it got me thinking, when you are filling in the forms how do you tell if something is subsidence or if it’s cracking and damage due to other issues, such as damp, and do you tick yes or don’t know? As an example, my house once was attached to another large building which was demolished at least 40 years ago, there’s some evidence that this caused the property to move a little but there’s nothing to suggest it has moved since, would this require a tick in the subsidence box?

You only know it's subsidence if somebody who understands whether or not it's subsidence has told you it is. Otherwise you tick "don't know".1
