Hello I am a FTB and am interested in a 1960s house. However, there are diagonal cracks above the windows front and back of the house. Is this something to be worried about?

Those cracks are atypical of windows being replaced where the originals were providing structural support for the outer leaf of brickwork and a lintel wasn't installed. In your second image, there appears to be the lip of a lintel poking out, so repointing is probably all that is required. In the first image, the crack looks as if it has been repaired in the past, but the brickwork has moved again causing further cracking. It would be prudent to get a structural engineer to have a look and give you a qualified opinion.Repair costs - If the lintel needs replacing, budget £500-£1200 each. For repointing, £100 or so should cover it.Her courage will change the world.

Hard to tell if that's a lintel or a lead tray. If it's the tray then it would explain the brickwork dropping.1
