Pet insurance voided by insurer, how/where can I get a new insurance for my pet

Hello everyone,
My new puppy was insured by us in May of last year, and this year the automatic renewal went through according to emails sent by the insurance company. However, I suddenly got an email from them stating that the insurance had been voided due to non-payment. I had a long conversation with the insurance agent and their manager, who told me that apparently my payment for the last year and this year did not go through, but they had failed to inform me of this till now. And because of this, not only is my pet not insured, but because of the void status, they will not reissue the insurance, and I am finding it impossible to find any other insurance for him. 
I would be really grateful if you lovely people could advise me on:
1. How can I get my dog insured now with the void status in his history?
2. What comeback do I have with the insurance company. I cannot find any records of the payments being made from my bank statements, but equally, they did not inform me that there was an issue for over a year.

You would need to establish why it did not go through.
Was it the insurance company error or was it fail at the bank due to no money or wrong account number?
If the insurance company's error I would ask them to reinstate if you pay last year's premium and this year's one.
if the error was on your side then they are unlikely to reconsider.

Thank you so much for your comment. I will write to ask them this. In the meantime, is it possible to get pet insurance with a void history does anyone know please?

Normally when you apply for instance you have to declare whether you have ever had insurance voided or cancelled by the insurer - you may find that you are automatically refused if you answer yes to that question so may need to look at speaking directly to an insurer to ask individually - normally I would say go via a broker but I am not sure if they normally deal with pet insurance!

You will also need to be careful when you apply for other types of insurance to see whether they question they ask is (for instnace) whether you have ever had car insurance refused or voided or whether you have ever had any insurance voided.
