House of Fraser (HoF)

i bought a black/white shirt from HoF online in addition to other shirts,  in an invoice totalling £202.00. Once i received the order, i shipped the order abroad without checking the goods. Unfortunately, the shirt that was supplied was the wrong colour; green/white instead of black/white. I am unable to return the green/white shirt at the moment due to travel ban and very high cost of courier from that country back to the UK. i have asked that HoF kindly send me the correct colour. HoF have insisted that they cannot supply the right colour until i return the wrong coloured shirt. So far this year, i have bought goods worth almost £1000 from HoF. What can i do to get the right colour shirt back in goof faith.
All suggestions and advice welcome.

You are not going to get a free shirt 🙄 send back the wrong one and they will replace it.

I would suggest you shouldn't have done this

Can you explain why you did it? If you're reselling it then you're not going to be entitled to consumer rights anyway.

I'm guessing that OP is acting as a business, re-selling clothes here and/or abroad.  The use of "invoice" and "shipping the order abroad" is not normal consumer language.  He's sent the wrong colour to his customer who's giving him grief for it, perhaps?

OP, if that is the case, you're not a consumer and even if I'm wrong and you are a genuine consumer, HoF is perfectly entitled to demand the original shirt back before they replace it or refund you.

And if they are running a business, they're entitled to ask their customer to return the item...

You're not going to get them to replace with the correct shirt until you've sent the other one back. Why not just buy the black & white shirt and get a refund on the other one when you get it back, but as others have said it sounds like you're running a resale business here and therefore this is not a consumer issue.

Thank you all for your advice. i will buy another shirt and return/ refund when i get a hold of the wrong coloured shirt once travel for leisure is no longer restricted. BTW, i am a consumer and not a seller, i happen to have a brother in law who likes shirts from HoF. Its been a very difficult year for everyone, he is a doctor helping out abroad and has not been able travel back as often as he did before lock down, hence buying his shirts this year. Also, kindly note my  forum name. :)
