Van based 8 seater MPV - recommendations needed

Can anyone recommend a van based large MPV with 8 seats?
We really like the New Toyota Proace Verso Family version but it is simply not MSE'esque as they only started selling them around 2017.

Nissan El Grande, Toyota Alphard or other Jap import are far more refined than a panel van full of seats.

Don't forget the Proace is the exact same thing (bar the badges and minor styling twizzles) as the Citroen Spacetourer, Peugeot Expert Tepee and Vauxhall Vivaro Life.

Yeah, noticed that. Any idea which manufacturer supplies the engine in them all?

It's an entirely PSA vehicle, using the PSA-Ford 1.6HDi or PSA 2.0HDi.
There's no Toyota componentry or design involvement at all.
Peugeot/Citroen/Toyota are built in the PSA Valenciennes plant in Northern France, Vauxhall-badged are built in Luton - and RHD UK-market production's for the other three is moving there.

Well that’s pretty much rules out the Toyota Proace Verso then, thanks for confirming Adrian.

Back to the original question, what now? 😂😂

    What is your budget?
Does it need to be 8 seats? The Ford grand torneo connect comes in 7 seat option that fold flat into the floor so makes them more useful.
They are bigger than the conventional 7 seaters and quite a decent drive for a van based car and are appearing in decent numbers on the used car market so prices are getting affordable.

£10-£12k ish. I was put off Ford about 10 years ago when my then employer had problem after problem with Transits.

Take a look at the Auto Express website. Their vehicle reviews are very comprehensive.
