Gas meter registered incorrectly

So I've recently moved into a flat and can't open a gas account with anyone. The gas meter is seperate from any others and is by my door but does not show on the national database, the MRPN has been registered to one incorrect address not even in the same building and the serial number is registered to another address that is in the same building. Both of these have seperate suppliers who seem lost, according to the serial number it should be SSE supplying and according to the MRPN it is gas plus supply limited who I think is Utility Warehouse.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to get this fixed, I can't pay for gas at the moment but I am receiving it.

Raise formal complaints with both companies, and tell them to sort it out.
If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -

Life would be a lot simpler if we adopted the system used in a number of other countries when the building carries a physical identification mark. All utilities are assigned to that number. It is then easy to check if there has been a mis-registration.0 -

This address may or may not be right, but it's generally wrong only if it's an old pplot number of some new supplier got confused! If the meter is registered to anoiher address then that might well be your MPRN with a wrong addres after building. Is ther ean MPRN for your address. I faile to see how ", the MRPN has been registered to one incorrect address not even in the same buildin" is even possible. There is a MPRN for your address or there is not. To resolve you would look at all the MRPN's for the building and see if there are enoug. If not new ones are needed (or yours could be the one you think it is which some idiot supplier has changed the address on but I have no idea why you think it is yours). It would be a good idea to speak to the neighbour that is currently "paying your bill" as they may want to sort it out as well.

Plot 14/No 5 was registered against my address; ie, No 14, and so on across the Estate. The MPRN and the meter serial number are intrinsically linked: splitting them causes untold problems. The key to resolving this matter is identifying the correct MPRN for the property and getting the database listing changed to the correct postal address. Once this update has taken place, then the correct meter serial will be allocated to the correct address.0
