Aargh, too much choice in everything these days! Totally overwhelmed am I. Looking at stoves within 4 to 5kW output. Price range up to £900. UK manufactured. Recommendations gratefully received. Thanks.

We used to have one of these and it worked really well

Also if you get the multifuel then you can put some coal on at the end of the night and in the morning you could open the damper and put some wood on and it would spring into life. Just wood had a tendency to burn out over night.
We had two, the other was a Villager with a back boiler.
I can't say I miss them though, they come with dust, ash, they need regular cleaning out and getting and storing wood was a faff.
Nice to sit by occasionally, but I wouldn't want to rely on them again.
If you get a flat top then you can put something like this on it

Which is fun and helps circulate the heat around the room a bit, although, depending on the size of your room the Hunter does kick out quite a bit.0 -
We live rurally with our own supply of wood for heating (we also have oil fired central heating but rarely use it 🙄) and plenty of space to store this, so have two stoves, both DEFRA approved. One is purely a wood burner, the other a multifuel although we only ever burn wood in both.
The first is a Dovre 50 (made in Norway I believe so doesn't fit your brief) - it's a big beast and is the only heating we need in our fairly large kitchen.
The other is a Charnwood C6 - probably too high an output for your requirements, but smaller, cheaper models are available - made, iirc on the Isle of Wight.
We love both, although the huge door on the Dovre makes it our favourite as we love watching the wood burn 😀

We have a Hamlet Solution 5 https://www.aradastoves.com/solution-5-s4/p36785 in a holiday let, where it gets a lot of use, often by people unused to using stoves. One firebrick has cracked after 12 years (normally considered as consumable) but it's still in place and doing what it's supposed to do.
We find it easy to drive (i.e. lights easily, and is easily turned up/down as requried), and would recommend if you like the style.0 -
Thank you for your replies. Appreciate your time 🙂0
