You haven't worked for them recently otherwise you would have known it's a PITA with the info. I'm not being horrible saying this.
My OH has temped for a couple of them, I've seen him trying to get various documents and he's asked what else they will accept. For one he had to prepare a statement to say he wasn't working for a period.
They've taken people on, partway through training some have disappeared. My OH had a text from them to say they couldn't get all the documents and were canned.
Even now I cringe when he says he applied for a job with a bank, knowing what he's had to try and provide before 🙈
All you can do is ask what they will accept.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.1 -
Whilst I understand your frustration a potential employer can carry out as much scrutiny as they like (obviously within the law) and decline to employ anybody who can't or won't provide the information they request. All you can do is to work proactively with them to try and satisfy their requests or look for a job elsewhere.RavenQueen said:
I have worked for banks before and never had to go through this scrutiny, like I said in Dec I was working for local government and I'm also working a government contract now. So I feel that from my references and DBS checks should reflect this. Its like they're moving the goalposts. Like a PP has said, I can't prove something I haven't done!MovingForwards said:Banks are not being very big picky, they have to be careful about who works for them due to potential access to a lot of money.
Unfortunately, they have a process and it has to be followed, even temps have to jump through the same hoops for 12 week's of work.0 -
They have got back to me this morning and apparently what I have submitted is totally fine. No need for anything else. The person who had been reviewing the case had checked with colleagues and what I have submitted is sufficient5

Sorry, I'm confused. They want 5 years, you have tax records going back to 2016... it's now 2021 so surely that is the 5 years they are asking for?RavenQueen said:I hope this is in the right place. I've had a job offer from HSBC and obviously their going through all the normal checks etc and I've provided all the paperwork they've asked for which includes a 5 yr history from HMRC statement showing that I've not been working, I've also shown my daughters birth certificates from 2011 & 2013 as I haven't worked since then up to 2020 as my husband provided for us, they've said is there any way I can prove I haven't been earning any money as it's a long time?! My online bank statements only go back to 2016! So I'm at a loss on what to provide? In all the application it only asks for 5 yrs worth of things! I was wondering if anyone could shed any light on what else I could sendThanks in advance

Exactly this was my point at the time, apparently the person doing the check, said as it was a long period of time they needed proof I hadn't been earning any money, over the 5 yr time scale!? And again some previous posters had said, I can't prove something that hadn't happened!. Some posters said well you've got to sort of suck it up, but I spoke to someone else and then it turns out what I supplied is fine.Wyndham said:
