Paint and wallpaper

Options
I live in a 1901 through terrace house, I'm looking to getting all the walls and woodwork painted in my:
Hall
Stairway
Landing
Including painting the woodwork
And getting the two walls in the bathroom wallpapered.

I've just had a quote which includes the paint but not wallpaper and it was £3600

I was not expecting this but I'm not sure.
I'm in West Yorkshire if it makes a difference.

Ask them how long it will take, then u can find the hourly rate.I pay between £10-12 an hour.

  • Finding someone to slap some paint on your walls at any price should be straightforward. It boils down to it being a good job - does it need filling, sanding, rogue nails removed etc, and is time allowed for doing all that well so that it actually looks good at the end.

I also live in a 1900 (+/- 10 years) mid terrace, and for those areas in my house I imagine the painting taking about 7 days. Prep work can easily take the same amount of time, which leads me to 14 days x £150, plus some materials = £2500?

I'd be getting two more quotes if I were you. If they are all similar, you need to accept that's what it costs right now, so consider waiting (prices may come down) or - our favorite here - DIY.

Also wallpaper in a bathroom? I've never experienced it - because as it doesn't seem to me like it'd stay on, it's not something I've ever done.

A skilled and qualified decorator should cost twice that!
