How high priority should A CCJ be?

I have a CCJ still about 3 years from expiry, but I have a couple of questions about it:

1. I’m paying it off in instalments but it won’t be cleared by the time it expires. Will it ‘renew’ on my credit report if not fully settled by that time?
2. Should I be in a rush to prioritise clearing this debt over my others just because it has a CCJ attached? Does that matter at all as long as I’m paying it off gradually with regular monthly repayments?

The debt is being payed at a regular monthly amount and I plan to be able to increase my repayments as my overall debts reduce over time, I just don’t know if this should take priority over my other debts. None of this stuff gets explained to you when you get the judgement in the first place!

Thank you.

The CCJ won't expire. It will fall off your files after 6 years but remains valid.

Where you should focus your repayments depends on the other debts you have and your credit ambitions.
  • 1) No it cannot be added back, the CCJ will disappear 6 years after entry on your credit report
    2) depends which debt is more expensive to cover
  • Thank you both for your responses. Sound to me like the damage from the CCJ has been done and that won’t change, for better or worse, until the six year mark when it disappears from my file.

I already have a general plan in place to tackle my debts and I can stick to that without needing to make any special allowances for this particular debt just because it has a CCJ attached.

That clears a lot up for me. Thanks again!
