How difficult is it to move sky from my ex to myself.  I am current,y paying for it myself but don’t want it in his name.  I have sky q. So will they want the boxes back?  And then send me new ones ?

OP, give them a ring. They are unlikely to want the boxes back if you want to keep the same package. They'll probably just swap the contract over. If you are out of contract you may be able to get the same package for less as well. best bet is to contact Sky.

Other posts have suggested that Sky WON'T talk to anyone other than account holder. Worth a try but be prepared to stop payment and allow them to chase your partner who may have to cancel the account.

Ask your ex to terminate the contract and then you can start a new one, just as if you had moved into the property.
If he will not do that, or you have no contact, then all you can do is cancel the DD and wait for them to cut off the service. It's his contract, not yours. Whose bank account it comes out of is not relevant.

Friend of DD got someone to pretend he was their ex and say they were going abroad so transfer the account to my ex who is paying anyway. Sky went ahead and send a letter confirming the change to both parties at the same address.

Just another thought - I'm with Virgin and use their online chat to make any changes. Account is in my OH's name so I pretend to be her as I can't be bothered with the faff and she's not very tech savvy so ends up asking me what to say anyway.

In my (limited) experience Sky insist on a phone call nowadays (altho' in the past I've changed deals via chat)
