Bt query

Been having problems with BT for 2 years now in short everytime we move the cancel our old line instead of carrying over and start a fresh contract last time they didnt even cancel our old line and were charging us for two!

Now the bill is business line and the business no longer runs, we have not wanted BT business since last October now but they dont listen each time they start up a new contract they extend our time with them and we cannot get away

this time theyve landed a 5 yr!!! term on us which we didnt ask for, I asked and agreed by phone to a new cheaper contract but then later we get letter saying its 5 years but signed nothing firstly is there anything we can do here? can we cancel it saying the limited compnay is no longer running?

We have complained to OFCOM (sp?) and then on thier advice wrote a complaint to BT who have spent 6 months and calls from different people not knowing what the problem is and bouncing it back and fourth and still not cancelling the 5 yr thing

So today i get a bill for £119 on the list there are calls im sure I havent made, we use the phone rarely

Tomorrow I have to call them again and get passed from pillar to post and probably get called a liar (one person from there did it before)

Im just so tried of all this, I presume we can go to OFCOM again now as its well over 6 months but BT just dont listen, I want shut once and for all

Does anyone know can we keep broad band if we are paying for it and we get behind with payments for our actual phone?

  • you seem to have had a catalogue of problems. i don't understand the first part about you moving etc ...you would have to give more detail before i or anyone else could comment on whether you have been poorly treated.
i don't understand why you are being tied into a 5 year contract. are they offering you a good deal or something (call package ,equipment etc) which means it is only cost effective for bt if you are into a 5 year contract with them ?

You wont be able to keep the broadband, if the phone line goes into a TOS (Termination of Service) due to non-payment then the broadband will be ceased with it. :)
  • OK no we didnt ask for 5 yr contract I asked to be put on a cheaper sevice but they never mentioned it was for 5 years I was just told on the phone that we would pay less.

We asked for this to be cancelled as soon as we found out thats what had been done but they havent, we have been asking this since August.

We have written another complaint letter will see if this does anything, unlikely
