What's the problem? If it's pending it is clearly in 'the system' and when first paid will be backdated to 26 May (which is presumably your 66th birthday?).
Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!

Strange that it is taking so long. MrsM hit SRA early Feb, received application letter early last Oct and had payment dates and amounts by the end of Oct. Did they say what "pending" meant and why it was taking so long ?

I applied 3 March for state pension due to start mid-April. Nothing heard from DWP by end of May and pension not in payment.
    Don't get your hopes up!

    How to claim

You will not get your new State Pension automatically - you have to claim it. You should get a letter no later than 2 months before you reach State Pension age, telling you what to do.

If you have not received an invitation letter, but you are within 4 months of reaching your State Pension age you can still make a claim.

Possibly the delay for  Robert results from late claim?

I can't see how a "late" application a couple of months before due date should cause a delay.  From experience the process only takes 2 to 3 weeks max.

MrsP had her invitation in April (reaches 66 in August). Accepted the invitation using the online process. Letter a week later with payment info - we were impressed if a little surprised!

Xylophone, thanks for your input. In my particular case I did not get an "invitation letter" so applied proactively on 3 March. Still waiting. Thankfully I'm not hugely dependant on receiving the pension on day 1 - unlike someone physically retiring from paid employment and seeking to substitute the state pension for salary.
