BMW 320i 2014 with N20 Engine - 33K Mile - Timing Chain gone

Tks guys, will let you know the outcome of this whole thing.0

Your first post suggests that the main dealer did the work and presented you with a hefty bill, but subsequently you're wondering where you should take it for the repairs. Doesn't quite add up..ivodj9270 said:the timing chain is gone and as a consequence of snapping, they had to replace all the affected engine parts and the bill is incredible.
....
So my question is:
- Is my only option to pay the bill or just get rid of the car
Assuming it's not been repaired and the original bill was really an estimate or quote, the options seem to be to find some reputable engine rebuilders and get quotes, or go via the salvage market and source an engine from a write-off, ideally one that hasn't affected the drive train. Sounds pricey either way.1
