O/S Daily Tuesday 25 May 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Cloudy overcast and wet underfoot start to the day. Rain forecast for today - which looks like it will start any moment.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was fish, chips and beans for the menfolk. I had baked fish and veg. Tonight will be braised pork, and LO's - ie, yorkshires, mash and veg.
Yesterday work was busy today will be similar I think.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning, thanks for starting NMLC.It's sunny, hope it lasts. Yesterday was showery, but quite nice when the sun shone. I'm going to a local-ish retail park this morning, whoo hoo, I'm quite excited! I've got a small list of things to buy - it's DD's birthday on Sunday so I'll get her present.Gers, thinking of you, you'll have plenty to do I know. Take a bit of time for yourself as well.Hope you had a nice birthday AOD, with that lemon drizzle cake, sounds lovely.Hope everyone has a good day - take care folks..14

Morning folks - thanks for starting the thread nmlc.A very happy belated birthday to AOD, sorry I missed it. I hope that you had a day filled with laughter, love and gifts. And a bit of fizz too.Yesterday was fairly busy taking and making lots of phone calls about DM and her affairs. I also visited the funeral home to finalise and pay for the cremation. The registrar rang me to start that process and will do so again this morning to complete it. All most weird. One of the carers called round with a card for me, that was so nice. Three bouquets of flowers arrived so getting them sorted took some time.Today the hospital bed and other medical equipment will be collected after which I'll go for a walk if the blooming rain holds off. Then I'll steadily work my way through some more drawers. There's a few more phone calls to make. I'm taking things slowly and having lots of breaks to clear my emotions. My thoughts are still with our poorlies. I hope that everyone has a happy Tuesday.

Morning All
Lovely walk along the river this morning but still quite chilly, looks like we'll have more rain later.
I bought some jeans from Morries last week and wore them the other day to find that the security tag was still in them, went back yesterday and of course the buzzer went off - had to explain I was bringing them back! All sorted now. Called at the allotment to see if the little polytunnel was still there, it is so not much to do there. It was so cold when I got home I put the heating on for an hour!
Nothing much else happening here, 3 more days to the long weekend, yay!
Take your time Gers.
Hope you haven't got a sore head AOD!
Hugs to those in need. Take care. XX16 -
Morning all. Yesterday turned into a garden type thing, the rain held off except for fits and drabs so I had enough time to cut down a peony growing by the side of a raised bed [ love the big blousy flowers, hate the masses of foliage] and chuck that in the compost bin, two buckets of weeds, planted out the anemones, lovage, osteospermum and echinacea. Today is probably !!!!!! out the lettuce and do some other stuff. Have a blood letting at the hospital this morning, a zoom call about the concept designs tonight [woop, at last], supper to think about [I made veg sugo for pasta for my lunch yesterday] which will probably be chicken and flatbreads again and a general bit of tidying up. I am a bit miffed, I bought a couple of mugs at the weekend and did two in, two out, I used one of them yesterday and there is a crack in the bottom already but I have ripped up the receipt and put it in the compost caddy. Ah well, lessons to learn in the future.Aod, hope the cake went down well, that's OHs dads favourite too, I have to make him one in two weeks time. Scarlet, enjoy your shopping day. nanny, good to hear mr fixit feels better. camelot, I know! it's just so blummin cold. I keep switching the heating on...In May! And I shouldn't have taken the electric blanket off the bed. Gers, that's probably the only good thing, that it's so busy afterwards sorting things out you haven't got time to think too much. Hey all readers along, hope your staying dry, someone might make a fortune building a while body hairdryer...you've been warned...Stay safe!Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi16

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Yesterday's forecast rain never arrived and it was a nice bright (chilly!) day. Showers are forecast again so we'll see if they get here today. It's strange weather we are having but apparently the end is in sight and normal weather will soon resume!
I got my kitchen scales out yesterday and they were dead. I changed the battery but still dead. I've had them a long time so I assume they've come to the end of the road. I might pop down into town this morning and look for some new ones as I feel a bit lost without any. I have no idea where I will look as all our homeware shops have closed down, even Argos is no more! Talk about a ghost town!
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all in need of them. Thinking of our poorlies and poorly loved ones. GERS as always is in my thoughts there is so much to do at a time when you don't feel up to it. Take care one and all x

Dry and bright here for now but im sure more rain will come later !! Yesterday I took the dogs to the park with my friend and we were walking round when the rain started and then turned into huge hail stones the size of cherries we finished out walk quickly but I was soaked to the skin I wrung my trousers out when I got home and even my undies were wet ! The patio was white and it looked like it had snowed, funny weather for May !
Im off out today (much excitement) with mum and my sister we are going to Ikea, mum bought a unit for her sewing room and needs to buy some baskets to go in it, they would not deliver them for some reason, I am sure some other bits and bobs will find the way into the trolly as well, we will have lunch out and make a day of it.
Will empty the dw and have a clean through before we go and that will do for today.
Gers I am thinking of you as always, I hope you get time for a walk, fresh air always makes you feel better, much love to you xx
Have good days all xx15 -
Morning everyone
We morning here after a lovely day yesterday - well till 7pm when the rain started.
I put the heating on for a little while last night as it was so chilly.
Little one had to picked up from nursery yesterday morning as she had a rash - DD took her over to our local hospital and she has a virus called Rosaeola - i had to google it. She should be fine in a few days hopefully.
I start work at lunchtime today so have a few jobs to do before then.
Thinking of you Gers - hope yo manage to get your walk

Morning, hugs if you need one, especially Gers.
TA my kitchen scales did the same thing, I still had the scales I bought when I was at college, the old brass pan and weight type, so I fetched them out and have been using them, they are still accurate.
Funny day yesterday rain then sun then more rain. I did manage to get the bed lien dry on the line, just finished it off in the dryer before folding it. Its raining again this morning so todays coloured wash will be going into the dryer.
Trip to Dunelm this morning, I need some new sheets, pillow cases and pillows. The sheet I took off the bed yesterday was so thin you could read a book through it. Must be all of 25 years old!!
The garden is now swilling with water..... I have plants to go in, but after the ground being too dry its now too wet!!
Have some big juicy sausage for supper tonight, so sausage, mash and baked beans. We will finish the crumble off for dessert.13
