Changing flight for package holiday

Hi,
just after a bit of advice regarding a package holiday. We have booked a package with Tui flying from one airport a fair journey from us, before they added routes from our local airport. 

Now they have added a local route, I called to see if we can switch to our local flights (destination and hotel would stay the same). The flights alone are cheaper on their site than our original flights. 

However, as demand went up in the week after we booked, the holiday as a whole including the hotel is far more expensive. 

They say even if it is a flight change, we pay the difference in price for the whole package. 

The catch 22 is also that they said our room is no longer available so we would be forced to go for a pricier room. I tried to argue the logic that we already have a room booked, but it was a computer says no situation. 

I’m assuming this is standard package holiday T&Cs, so any changes would mean the whole package price is recalculated as such and so we’ll just accept that we chose to fly from a different airport and it’s just luck, unless anyone can offer any wisdom! The alternative is we buy other cheaper flights separately but that may mean we can’t get on an earlier transfer.

You’re bound by the T&C’s you booked. Usually when changes are requested by the customer the holiday will be re-costed at the current price. Holiday prices are dynamic and change all the time I’m afraid. You win some you lose some. 

Be careful of buying flights only and hoping to catch up with your package. A no show for the departing flight could result in them cancelling the holiday. In practice I doubt that would happen but I’d want to check.
