zagubov said:Bit of a long shot. Stirling's less rainy than Glasgow and much warmer and less windy than Edinburgh. Good access to both by train and motorway. Lots of facilities including Britain's most northerly Waitrose.
For that matter, if you're happy to drive, Torrance is a village handy for Bishopbriggs shops and motorway connections to Edinburgh and I think it's in the Bearsden school catchment area.
But unlike those towns it doesn't have musical acts named after it.

Have you thought about Stirling?
Equally far/close to Edinburgh and Glasgow and quite a nice wee town itself, with less competitive housing market.
Having said that, if you have to choose between Glasgow and Edinburgh, pick Glasgow with no hesitation.1 -

I still think we'll probably go for the nicer parts of Glasgow, but we're probably setting our sights on a three bed that needs a refurb. DH will probably find work locally which means he'll go down a pay grade but I'll be looking for work in another year or two so hopefully that makes up for it. We were looking at the monthly repayments for £400k and it's just steep. I always thought it might be, but it knocked my head out of the clouds. The boys will be fine with sharing for the next five years or so and a box room for the baby will be enough. We can always think about extending rather than moving as well.
