Hi all, 
I have booked a week's holiday for May half term at Haven, Burnham-On-Sea. 
Stupidly failed to research properly prior to booking, and find that the local beach is not going to be the lovely sandy beaches we are used to from visits to Isle of Wight Devon/Cornwall etc. 
I have done a little googling to try and find a nice beach to visit (thinking sandy; no mud flats - for paddling/swimming; rock pools), but struggling to find real people reviews! 
Can anyone suggest anywhere within 30-45 min drive of Burnham-on-Sea?

Burnham is rather muddy - I believe Weston Super Mare is meant to be good although I have never been.
Also the nearby helicopter museum is worth a visit if you like that sort of thing.

Minehead is probably the nearest that meets your criteria - but that's 35 miles and over an hour away.

Weston is very good for sandy beaches but also a lot of mud when the tide goes out. No rock pools as it's very flat.
