Is it right that we can't get a full refund for a cancelled hen party, they will only give credit notes that some cannot use

has the hotel cancelled your booking or are you cancelling it? what were the terms and conditions regarding cancellation?

Who cancelled, you or them?
If you did, they don’t have to give you anything other than what their T&Cs provide for.
