Having to enter Credit Card details. Is this suspicious or normal?

Options
I got an email from MSE Credit Club to say my credit score has been updated and asks me to check to see if it has changed.
When I try logging in I get the message below asking me to put my credit/debit card details in for verification. I've not had this before and it's 3 years since I changed address. Is this suspicious or normal?

"We have been unable to verify your recent change in address. We may be able to proceed if you can provide details of a Credit or Debit card that is registered to the current address which you have recorded with Money Saving Expert, or you could try logging in again in a few days when our records may have been updated with your new address."

    No way.
Wait a few days to see if its updated.
There are other ways to verify your new address.

Thank you McKneff. I'm glad it's not just me that thinks this is suspicious.
It was way back in 2018 when I changed address. How long do I need to wait?  ;)

I agree it sounds a bit sus. Are you accessing it through https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/creditclub/ ? If not, you may want to consider changing your password here and on any other sites you use the same password, just in case.

If the site is correct then I'm not really sure what's going on as I've never seen that personally. Perhaps consider contacting customer support, or you could try deleting and re-creating your account (as that seems to sort a lot of issues with credit club). Just keep in mind you'll lose access to any historic reports if you go down that route.

The email came from creditclub@email3.moneysavingexpert.com and I am trying to log in directly via moneysavingexpert dot com/creditclub (sorry, not allowed to post links yet), and not via any link from the email itself.

Thank you for everyone's view on this. As the concensus of some very experienced Forum Members agree that this looks a little suspicious, I have raised a query with creditclub@moneysavingexpert.com

I would definitely contact the MSE credit club support team as this doesn’t sound right. I have never heard of this before. In my experience when my identity couldn’t be verified they told me to try again in a month or so, but your best bet would be to contact support team.

Thank you george9071. I have emailed them. Pointless trying again in a few days or in a month as it's been nearly 3 years since I changed address  :D

It's certainly not unheard of for CRA's to use debit cards to verify addresses.  Can't tell you whether Credit Club does it though.
