Credit Card Confusion!

in Credit cards
Hi, I'm a bit confused and was hoping someone could help me out a bit. I am considering putting a purchase on the credit card. My current barclays credit card has 4k on it and the interest free rate has ran out. I've had it for a few years now and haven't really used it since interest free deal finished and always cleared my balance. Balance is sitting cleared now. My new purchase would be 3k and I've seen 0% interest cards for 20+ months that I have eligibility for. My question is, can I just swap this one for a new one or do I have to just take the new one out and then cancel Barclays? Or do I put the balance on the Barclays then do a balance transfer? Any advice would be great. Thank you!

If you want to pay it off over a few months then buy on this card and apply for a BT card to shift the balance over after the purchase. Make sure you have the BT card first and budget for not getting sufficient limit to BT everything.
Alternatively apply for a 0% purchase card and see if you get enough of a limit to buy the item on that. Option 1 is safer as the 0% purchase card if you don't get the limit you need you will be stuffed, at least with a BT card even if you got £2500 limit you can still transfer up to 90% of the limit usually (allowing for the fee)1 -
You need to apply for the card or cards you want. 0% purchases will be cheaper than BTing, unless you find a fee free BT card.
Don't go cancelling the Barclaycard unless you feel you'll find it difficult to control your spending. Use it occasionally to keep it active or for your regular spend.

You just apply for another credit card but when I did the elegibikity checker it said 0 for barclaycafd as I've already got one.
If your looking to get another barclaycafd your unlikely to get one.Mortgage free wannabe
