Barclaycard - won't deal with claim under "FCA regulations"

My wife has recently uncovered a load of old Barclaycard statements (2003-2009) where she was surprised to see, that she had accidental death insurance cover. As a single woman at the time, living with her parents, she's no idea why she would've had this, or why it was appropriate. We wrote to Barclaycard and they wrote back saying that under FCA regulations the insurer (Stonebridge International and/or AIG Europe) are the only people she can complain to.
It does sound rather convenient that the company that sold these products, doesn't now have to deal with a complaint. Is this correct?
Many thanks,
Paul

Yes it is correct.
The seller is responsible unless the seller is an agent of the insurer or there is a principal company. In which case the insurer or principal company carries the liability for the complaint.
And its not a claim but a complaint.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. How is it convenient that a company that never sold you anything is somehow responsible for miss-selling you a product they didn't sell? You need to contact the seller if you wanted to complain but it's almost certainly time barred anyway even if the seller was regulated (a broker pre-2005 is unlikely to be, for example, so could dismiss the complaint)Lancashire_Knight said:My wife has recently uncovered a load of old Barclaycard statements (2003-2009) where she was surprised to see, that she had accidental death insurance cover.
