O/S Daily Monday 24 May 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Gers - so sorry to read you sad news, thinking of you and your family x
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Sunny and clear sky to start the day - but wet underfoot and laying water - more rain forecast.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge. DS2 settled and happy.
Lunch yesterday was roast chicken, some LO's - so they are safely in the fridge, dinner tonight will be fish.
Back to work this morning, we'll see what sort of day we get today - hopefully busy as it makes the day pass quickly.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning, and thanks for starting NMLC. Hope work goes ok for you. It's a sunny start here, hope it continues, yesterday was grey and showery, but we went out for quite a long walk, well, I'm saying that, we were out for quite a while but part of that time was spent sitting on a seat by the river in the park watching the birds. No ironing or card making was done, but I'll get to it.Snoozer, I found those books that you mentioned on A*azon, but there's some others as well on the same theme, so I'm now dithering as to what to buy. I'm indecisive to an alarming degree!I'll definitely get one though - trousers and some skirts are difficult to fit for me. I have thin arms and legs, a small backside, and a bit of a tummy (I always say my **se has moved round to the front), but a big waist. Even when I was young and very thin I didn't have much of a waist, just straight up and down. Not a lot happening today, I've got an appointment with the chiropractor, some shopping is needed, and tidying to be done. that's about it.Thinking about Gers - it's a busy time after a death. Her Mum had good friends and neighbours I think, I'm sure they will be doing as much as they can to help and support her.Hope everyone has as good a day as they can - take care folks.15

Morning All
Well, the relentless rain has stopped, yesterday was truly awful. Hoping for a more settled day today but the washing can stay inside anyway.
Glad I did the garden on Saturday, at least the new plants have had a good water but it's still so cold they may not survive, time will tell.
Thinking of you Gers, a lot to do for you now but you have good friends who will help if you need them, hope you had a good sleep.
Short week this week as we have a long weekend for half term, need to cram in as much as I can so I can relax over the weekend.
Thinking of the poorlies and carers. Take care. XX15 -
Scarlet, you sound the same shape as me, I have very little bottom and a large tummy, basically I am a rectangle and not an hourglass, it's a real trial finding clothes that fit and it's the same with clothes patterns so I'm hoping these books help.
We're taking Ziggy back this morning, I'm just online while I drink my morning cuppa, I want to set off before 8 because Laura has sent me a shopping list to get from M & S.
Gers, thinking of you.16 -
Morning all. Briefly sunny this morning with the promise of rain for the reat of the day. I don't have plans for today, I am going with the flow. I am picking some thing up from freecycle later on, an electric coffee pot, just because. Yesterday was travelling to swap and fetch various plants, some lovage, some japanese anemones, yes, I know they spread like wildfire but they are welcome to in the front garden. I love a self seeder or spreader, cuts down future work. The stones out there are looking quite grubby after winter, I should probably have chosen a different colour other than costwold stone. So nuffin much going on today, a lot of napping after a night on the sofa. Chicken is marinating in the fridge for tonight, mushrooms are on for breakfast, hoover, steam mop, toilet cleaning and collecting of items to go to the tip are on the cards for after.Gers, I wish I could say something brilliant to help you but unfortunately, I can't. Just wishing you fortitude for the coming weeks, and no fortitude at all for when you need to bawl. For anyone who wants one, have a hug, wishing you all a Noahs ark free day....Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi15

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. A beautiful start with blue sky and sunshine. Sadly it's not going to last - inevitably rain is forecast later. Yesterday it managed to stay fine until teatime when we had an almighty deluge.
As usual no plans for the day will see what turns up - probably nothing. No leftovers from yesterday - unusual for a Monday, so I need to do a freezer dive and see what comes out for tea. I think I could fancy chilli and hm wedges so might get some mince out shortly. I'll make plenty so that I have portions to freeze.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies and poorly loved ones. GERS is in my thoughts as always, it's a busy time after a passing with so much to sort out. Take care all xx

Morning folks.Such a lot of really touching messages and posts were waiting for me this morning. If I thought I had no more tears left to cry I was wrong as reading through it all brought more water to my eyes. Many many thanks for them all, I'm most grateful and touched. My DM, Ursula, died with her long standing friend on one side of her bed and me on the other, the event was very peaceful for which I can only be grateful. The lovely Camelot drove out to visit me for a while yesterday afternoon which was a little oasis for me, many thanks to her. In the true spirit of MSE she left here laden with what I hope are useful items for her.I'll reply to all the messages later, today will be a busy one after the lull of Sunday.I can't express well enough how all the support over the three years I have been with my DM have kept me going, you are all such an wonderful group of people. 💕💕💕Happy Monday to everyone.23

Morning all well the sun is shinning long may it continue there are rumours of a heatwave over the bank holiday but we shall see.
The weekend was the usual up sticks and go to the big house unfortunately it doesn't look like the move will be going ahead anytime soon and we may have to revert to plan B which is renting not ideal but not the end of the world but we have given the buyers till beginning of June to sort it out . I need to go into town today to buy a dinner plate i have moved all our dinning stuff to the big house bar 2 of everything and managed to break a dinner plate yesterday I also need to go into town to get my old phone unlocked as i have had an upgrade and need to sell it as i don't have a car at the moment it will be a trip on the bus not done that for a long time
Gers I have been thinking of you this weekend the next few weeks will be a whirlwind for you with arrangements and paperwork try to make some time for yourself it doesn't all need to be done at once .I know your mum like mine was very organised so it will make life a lot easier.
Right better get a shifty on the dog needs walking and the housework awaits . Have a good day whatever you are up to stay safe x

Morning all, it's grey and damp and I don't think the rain will be far away. I didn't sleep very well then was up at daft o'clock this morning, too many thoughts crowding my little brain, so may have a nana nap later. This morning we are going to Dad's to return his phone (he forgot to take it home on Friday ) and we'll do a few jobs for him while we're there ( he has a list ) If it's not hammering down with rain we'll come home via the long route as the car hasn't been started for nearly 2 weeks and could do with a run. Thank goodness Mr Fix It feels well enough to drive now. This afternoon I am making a coffee cake ready for after tea tomorrow as we will be picking up the DGC from school and then DD will join us for tea.Gers I am so glad that you were able to be with your Mum as she passed peacefully. Please take some time to yourself when you can as the aftermath of a passing is always a busy time. Lots of love and hugs my friend 💗Take care, hugs to allnan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently14

Morning everyone
Gers I'm thinking of you x
I don't start work till lunchtime today so am going to go along to M and S for coffee with mam and dad.
Little one stayed on Saturday night - we had a lovely play in bed yesterday morning pretending to be in a tent! I took her down went I went to sit with dad yesterday morning - she was in fine form - he sang while teaching her to do the twist! Not bad when he was sitting in his chair. DD picked her up after an hour and I got his computer jobs done.
Nice chat with eldest DD in Germany in the afternoon - she has been to pole dancing and aerial hoop this weekend - we joke she could join the circus!
She has a day off today - apparently Bavaria where she is living is one of the areas in Germany with the highest number of bank holidays.
Well I'd better move and get dressed
Hope everyone has a good day15
