No means to pay for fuel
I'm a home delivery driver for a supermarket and we have all sorts of problems with our Shell Fuelcard.
Anyway, it didn't work again tonight so instead of paying for it and claiming it back (it was only £48) I thought I'd go through the pallaver of filling out the forms from the British Oil Security Syndicate. I'm in work tomorrow (and there's reason to believe card will be OK then) so it's not like anything's going to come of it but it seems a bit off that the driver of a company vehicle should be put in the frame for potential criminal proceedings?

OK - an account of an event. Is there a question?
What sort of supermarket uses Shell Fuelcards and doe snot have their own forecourt selling own-brand petrol / diesel? Is the own-brand product sub-standard and not good enough for the home delivery vans?
Have I hit upon the real scandal in this whole affair? Stop-the-Press!!0 -
Why would there be potential criminal proceedings? You didn't drive off without paying.
I think you have done the right thing, get the supermarket to up their game.0 -

Do the latter three even offer home delivery services?
EDIT:. Sending the Butler does not count as a home delivery service.0 -

So yes, they did drive off without paying for it but promised to do so. There is an obvious tension here between getting your employer to sort it out as they should, but within the short timescales, or having to pay for it out your own pocket and then await for them to repay you.Grumpy_chap said:

Even for those supermarket chains that do sell fuel from some sites, they will have sites that do not - so would that store's fleet of vans travel to another town to fill up? Or just fill up elsewhere in the town they're based...?
That might be a 40 mile round trip - and, of course, they won't be delivering in those areas, because that store's fleet will be doing that.
And, yes, the Co-op deliver. https://www.coop.co.uk/ways-to-shop/home-delivery
And, yes, of course Co-op and Waitrose are supermarkets... In fact, I have no supermarket choices BUT Co-op within a 40 mile round trip. As for the Aldidl twins not being... <rolls eyes>0 -
