Visited car park twice, parking charge sent

My car was parked in a supermarket car park one afternoon to pop to a local shop.
The car park is used for nipping to the shops, in the nearby town centre and doesn't require an instore purchase.
It has a two hour limit, with no obvious restrictions for return, however we haven't been back and read the small print.
Later on my car went back to the supermarket to do some shopping.
We have now received a parking charge letter from Horizons saying it was there for 3.5 hours.
the car was at home for part of the time it says it was parked there.
How can we go about proving it was two visits?

The keeper of the vehicle should appeal the charge using the blue text template appeal easily found in the first post of the NEWBIES thread.
Send it unchanged - no additions or alterations needed.
Send it as the keeper.
Does the driver have google timeline set up on his phone?
What did the driver do between visits to the car park? Any proof of being elsewhere?2 -
This is called double dipping, and is a very common scam.
Complain to the manager and/or CEO of Sainsbury's and the landowner.
Read the sticky thread for NEWBIES and send the appeal template in blue text you will find there if a landowner/retailer cancellation is not forthcoming. Do not miss the appeal deadline.
Add a one line to the template that this was two separate visits. Otherwise dsenfd it unaltered, from the keeper.
Also check to see if the NTK was or wasn't PoFA compliant. If it wasn't, then add another one liner to that effect to the appeal template.
Statements from people who saw the driver (who must not be named) is evidence.
Does the driver have a smartphone with location tracking enabled? If so, look up the location history for the day in question.
Get pics of the site and signage.
Note that the driver is not involved and does nothing save collect witness statements and checks location data.

Thanks for your help, I've looked at the blue template.
The signs are very clear it is 2 hour parking and flashes up with your numberplate as you enter.
I'll go to the store first and speak with the manager, I wasn't aware they could do anything.
Thanks again.1 -
It's plan A in the newbies FAQ sticky thread near the top of the forum
Appeal is plan B
POPLA appeal if available is plan C
Court is plan D
So plan A is your best urgent option , it always is2 -

Thanks again. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

The main thing we are concerned about is the fine goes up whilst we are disputing it.0

It's not a fine!
How high do you think it will go? Can we help manage concern and expectations here? Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

It's not a fine , it's an invoice , they are not allowed to fine people !
The total charge for the invoice is on the PCN and on the signs too , not more than £100 , it never is
It is usually reduced by 40% for early payment , a discount for quick payment , but is ALWAYS the default daily tariff by definition
Discounts apply against the full price , don't pay promptly and the discount lapses , but the PCN never goes up , it remains at the full tariff of say £1002
