I expect most insurers use them (and get mates rates no doubt- but who cares?)You have to wonder how they can keep getting it wrong.Following the instructions on a can of primer and a tube of glue isn't exactly Rocket Science, I'd expect anyone who had had a couple of hours training to get it right first time, never mind six goes, surely they have a competent technician they could send out?

I have had the car insured with them for 11 years, in recent years they haven't been the cheapest quote but for the amount I would have saved I decided to stay with them as a big name This is the first time I have made a claim in that time, from what I understand autoglass are the supplier to most insurance companies, however next renewal I will be looking for an insurance company that doesn't use autoglass.Supersonos said:
And did you choose them because of their excellent customer service? Or because they gave you a nice, cheap quote?morrisoscar said:They do seem to make hard work of things.
You get what you pay for.
The problem with the rubbers is due to autoglass using poor quality none genuine parts. The geniune rubber trim has a metal skeleton within it, the autoglass one doesn't. The lesson I have learnt is autoglass do not use genuine parts when carrying out insurance work and that DL say you agreed to this in the T's & C's when you purchased the policy.0 -
Update, DL's proposed resolution was for the car to be collected and delivered to autoglass for them to have a seventh attempt. I flatly refused to allow this and said I would get the car repaired at my own expense and reclaim the costs from them via the small claims court, I said they had 24hrs to respond. Two hours later they rang to agree the car is to go to the main dealer for a quotation to replace the screen.0

Be funny if the dealer simply contract it out to autoglass

You could warn the dealership in advance that you will not have the job done by Autoglass.facade said:Be funny if the dealer simply contract it out to autoglass

Note on my quote for a new screen from my local dealer. " All windscreen replacements are carried out on site by bmw / mini trained technicians using only genuine bmw/mini parts. We no long use subcontractors for this type of work".
I can only assume from this that they have had problems.

Direct Line rang me yesterday, they are awaiting one of their engineers to authorise the repair at the main dealer. They said they hope to resolve things within a week and offered me a hire car until mine is repaired. At last it seems they are taking my complaint seriously after me following the advice of the people who helped me on here. So thanks go to you all.1
