PayPal & Microsoft

Hey, excuse me if I’m in the wrong subject.
i have been paying for a second Xbox gold & EA subscription from 2017.
It was set up by my son, then 8 from a family, child, account which is “inadvertently” linked to my PayPal.
That account was never verified by me. In fact, I verified it yesterday with Microsoft. So all email advisories we’re going into an empty bucket, that no one had ever been in and I didn’t know existed.
PayPal recently (December??) began to email when subscriptions were being taken and that email started coming to the recovery account. (Mine).
I saw that an amount was coming out and went to look.. because that account wasn’t verified, when I logged into Microsoft to check the payment details, all I could see was the main account. There is nothing but an invoice number and payment reference which even Microsoft don’t see on their side.
I’ve followed Microsoft process and got it cancelled. (Had to create and verify that email to do so!!) and then raised an “unathorised” complaint in PayPal’s resolution centre. They very quickly found nothing wrong.
trouble is, they haven’t provided a route to appeal or anywhere, really, to describe or provide evidence…?
Anyone had this, or dealt with it before?
 It’s a tenner a month for nearly 4.5 years. That’s a lot of money to me…

How did the account actually get linked and added as a paid account, doesn't that require adding the PayPal details, PayPal password etc.?

What's the reason for "inadvertently" being in speech marks?  That linking to your Paypal account would seem to be the crux of the matter.  If the system is flawed and allowed your son to (genuinely inadvertently) sign up to a paid contract on a sort of one-click basis, then you may have an argument that a contract should not have been formed with a minor.  However, I doubt Microsoft would have such an obvious loophole open for years without having been made aware of it before.  That suggests your son had access to your PayPal details...

Sounds to me that your son may need to be doing a lot of chores to pay you back.

"It was set up by my son, then 8 from a family, child, account which is “inadvertently” linked to my PayPal. "

So you had the settings open on the Xbox.
All this verifying etc is a red herring. Its simple to lock down and control spend on the Xbox for all users.
On my account it requires a pin for all purchases
On my sons it requires credit to be on the account (which I manually add as required)as there is no payment method attached.
I get an email for all purchases on the family account and anything my son wants and there's no credit requires authorisation/funds from me via the Microsoft account settings

Have you ever checked your paypal account as these payments show in there.
TBH. if it has been going out since 2017. Have you never noticed?
Even FOS/FCA say anything disputes on payments after 13 months is customers responsibility. As they are expected to check their accounts.

Sadly there is no way you will get the money back. Unless Microsoft are feeling generous.
