Hi everyone,
I hope everyone is as well as can be expected and that you had a quiet night Gers.
I went down to pick up Ziggy and had a lovely afternoon with Esben. He seems to be very musical, which isn't really surprising as my dad was a semi-professional musician, Steve is very musical and Laura plays violin, flute and piano. Esben sings along to lots of songs, keeping time and very often tune although he can't manage a lot of the words. It's the best way to cheer him up when he's unhappy.
Excitingly, I am making a body map, I've always been mystified and frustrated by fitting my non-standard figure to standard dress patterns but I bought a brilliant book which explains just how to alter the patterns for each area. So far, just on the bodice I know I need to shorten the armhole, lengthen the waist, adjust the back and do a full bust adjustment. It's fiddly but once I know where I vary it should mean I can make clothes that actually fit me.
Have a good day.11 -
Morning all, we seem to have the calm after the storm so the WM is on and hopefully I can get the washing dried outside. If the weather holds I may strip the bed too and wash the bedding as there wasn't another dry day forecast for a while. The DW needs emptying and the breakfast dishes put in, the kitchen worktops need wiping down and the bed re-made if I strip it.I too am longing for a few dry days as my lawns could do with a cut, as the song goes " the corn grass is as high as an elephants eye ! " The front hedge could do with a trim too but I'm afraid to do the one side as it's near a blackbirds nest and I don't want to disturb any babies.DGS has been invited to join the swimming squad for his club, so one super proud set of grandparents here 🏊🏽♂️. DGD, not to be outdone starts proper horse riding lessons tomorrow so we may see her in the Olympic show jumping team 🏇🏽, so watch this space.Right the WM has finished, I shall put it out and start up the next load.Gers lots of love coming to you and Mum today.Take care all, hugs to anyone in need. Healing vibes to all the poorly ones, especially my BFF, old sausage fingers 😁nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently11

The surveyor cancelled yesterday - the bridge was closed due to the high winds - he had 2 calls in Surrey area before heading here.
Wind has dropped - thank goodness

I have just about ground to a halt, OH was out so I set to and have had a mega trying on session of clothes. I freely admit that I love clothes and am a bit of a magpie, 80% of my stuff is from CS or clothes agency and the rest (mainly shoes and coats are classic considered buys that I keep and wear for many years). Like many, I think during lockdowns I wore just a small selection of things over and over. Very large pile ready for CS on Monday, there may be more if I decide to have another session again tomorrow.
Sending all my best wishes to Gers and her DM, also to Poppy ,Dumpling and family, Nelski and Marie.
Taff - thanks for mentioning merrily watkins series, not read any, will add to my wanted list. I ordered 3 books from the library, plus 1 for OH and they have all arrived within a few days, need to schedule in some serious reading time!
I love living here, I am a Shropshire Lass who left for 35 plus years to live in Birmingham and then West Dorset, my whole being feels that I am truly back where I belong, I am very fortunate. The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)9
