Ideal Logic Boiler and water tank broke after 26 months
Hi, so this week we noticed a loud humming sound coming from the water tank, I then noticed it only happened when the heating was turned off. The next thing I noticed was that the hot water was coming out of the taps boiling, way hotter than ever before. Then yesterday I decided to turn the heating up and I realised it wasn't getting hotter, I checked the temperature guage and it won't get above 20 degrees, even though I've set the temperature to 22. This is the same up and downstairs.
We live in a new build and moved in 26 months ago... It was a shock to me when I contacted Ideal who said their water tank and boilers only have a warranty for 2 years! They've been unhelpful and unsupportive towards us, but am I wrong for expecting these products go have a longer life span than 2 years?
Thank you for your advice in advance

Post this in the consumer rights sub forum for better advice. Just because it's just out of warranty doesn't mean you have no rights. It should be fit for purpose and 26 months certainly isn't for a water heating system.

There is a lot not to like about new build properties, and boiler warranties sit high on the list. No boiler should fail after 2 years but that is the warranty that you agreed to when you bought your new home. I have a new build and in 2 years of ownership I have had the fan; heat exchanger and syphon exchanged on my Worcester Bosch boiler.Has a GSR actually determined what boiler part has failed?0

After 26 months it should have been serviced twice as well, if that hasn't been done then it reduces the chances of getting anything out of the manufacturer...
