Saga Car Insurance

If you are thinking of moving home, don't insure your car with Saga. They will charge you over £100 extra to change your address, even if you are moving to a lower risk area.  There is no point in questioning the extra cost as they are not interested as they have you over a barrel.

Most companies do but, From their webpage? So you moved to a lower risk area?

If you need to change the address on your policy, please call us on 0800 302 9735 and one of our Customer Service advisers will be happy to help. Please have the following to hand when you call:

    • The new address
    • Where the vehicle is usually kept overnight
    • Confirmation that cover level and mileage is still adequate.

We will not charge an administration fee for making this change but please be aware that changing your address may cause the price of your insurance to go up or down. Our advisers will talk you through this when you call up.

You must update your driving licence, vehicle log book (V5C), Direct Debit for vehicle tax and other details when you move house. Visit the Government website for a step-by-step guide on what you need to change and how to do it.

My car insured with Saga for the last two years. Made three address changes with no charge to change. First was to a lower area, the other two around the same county.

When you say it's a lower risk area, have Saga told you that they rate it as lower risk themselvea, or are you making that judgement yourself based on the fact that it looks like a "nicer" area and the neighbours seem friendly, or have you found a website which claims to tell you how insurers rate different postcodes but is actually just some list that one particular insurer might have used at some point in the 1990s?

Only the first of those three options would carry any weight...
