Morning all ( can't say it's good as the weather is atrocious & set in for the day!)Gers, my thoughts remain with you.Nelski, great to see you post yesterday, we've missed you.Mild panic set in earlier as 2 road engineer vans pulled up outside. They walked down to the brook and alongside on the path quite a way ( I took the hound out for a nosey
) so they weren't doing their yearly check on the repaired culvert/road etc when we were flooded 5 years ago, but got back in and turned and went down the main road, parked up and are still there. There was some bad flooding the other night on the other side of town , although it rained really hard here we must have missed the worst, thank goodness.
We had some sad news ,DHs last remaining Aunt passed away yesterday, she was the oldest of the 4 siblings including my MIL. DH 's cousin was with her ,she was 97, a lovely lady. I made a card yesterday and posted it this morning to catch the mail.I'm making samosa pie for tea - basically mince with curry spices and filo pastry scrunched up on top, the menfolk seem to enjoy it for a change.Right, better get on with stuff, take care everyone x

Morning all. How poo is this weather at nearly the end of May? I feel today is going to be a sofa day. Nothing new there then...No way am I going in the garden today even if the green bin has been emptied and is shouting at me. I might have a declutter upstairs. We have two enormous duvets which since I bought the wool one, we haven't used at all. One of them can go. Italian and hoover, book a tip visit, book a blood test, cook some stuff for lunch, fetch OH from work [ training day again today, so nine to five] , watch some stuff on the computer..Nuffin much.Gers, I'm glad she is not in pain, I still feel for you both. nanny, is Mr Fixit going for the alphabet of ailments? Poor thing. Hugs for you tow too, although not for your father who is obviously a gad about now...dumpling, it does sound brutal, it's good that she's determined..Hey everyone reading along, hope you are all as well as you can be, hot chocolate and squirty cream to you all...and obviously added brandy or whisky for those that want or need...Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi9

Morning all, well the storm persists, I'm glad all my trees are still standing, who knew they could bend that much !I spoke to Dad yesterday and said he needed to go to town today ( in this weather 😮 ) as he'd had 2 bills in the post that morning which couldn't wait er... yes they can as it would mean walking to 2 places, either end of town in this storm. Seems he's got the "going to town/shopping" bit between his teeth again, so I've asked him to come over to lunch instead and we will pay his bills online, then he only has to get from his car to our front door. We shall have maple BBQ pork steaks with chips and peas for lunch and I've made a trifle for after.Good news, Mr Fix It seems a little better today, I hope that will continue.Gers I'm glad Mum is comfortable, you and Mum are in my thoughts. Hang on in there my lovely.Rosy my condolences to you and DH, it's very sad news, more so because she was the last of the siblings. Hugstaff your "nuffin much" makes my head spin 😁😵Nels lovely to read your post yesterday.Hugs to all the poorly ones and the MIA'sTake care all.nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently7

Hi all, even later today, but been busy all day.
Town to drop bag at CS and do the baker/butcher/market shop, damp and blowy, but did not get really wet.
This afternoon has been taken up with the mammoth task of de-frosting, cleaning and re-organising of the upright freezer, now all clean and tidy and just for the moment everything listed in the freezer book, don't expect it will stay like this for too long though.
Gers I am thinking of you and your DM, so pleased that she is peaceful. I imagine that her crossword friend will miss her very much when she slips away.
Sending hugs to all that need them too.
Snoozer when you mention Aymestrey do you mean in Herefordshire, if so you were not far from me, OH and I live in L*dlow and prior to covid used to regularly meet up with his cycling group for a fry-up lunch and gallons of tea at the café there. With you on missing the tech sometimes when away, struggled with internet signal last week, even oldies like OH and I miss it a lot when things are iffy.
Just had a telephone consultation with Orthopaedic Hospital, first I have heard from them for well over a year, it was good and they are organising some tests regarding my painful and rather useless hands.
Take care all.The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)8 -
Maddiemay, yes we were staying in Herefordshire. Had hoped to get to Ludlow but didn't make it, maybe next time. We chose Herefordshire because we are both fans of Ben Aaronavitch's Rivers of London books and one is set out of London near Aymestrey. They're described as Harry Potter meets the Sweeney and if you know London at all you'll enjoy identifying landmarks.4
