O/S Daily Friday 21 May 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Gers - thinking of you and your mum x
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH up and gone to work stupid stupid ealry, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS1 getting ready for work. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was a use-up meal - so we had boiled eggs, ham, pork pie, cheese, beans, and chips - most of these items were open in the fridge or nearing the use by date - didn't want to throw anything away. It's also made room for the food shop that I'm doing a click and collect this morning - hoping it all works ok as the last time I used this particular company they cancelled the order stating tech problems - hoping it will work today!
Yesterday work was busy but ok.
I have, as usual, have a full "to do" list, so will get cracking with that. First load of washing in the WM as we speak.
Keep safe and well x

I've not posted for a few days, time just runs away with me.

Gers, thinking of you and DM. Nelski, I hope your hands are as good as they can be. Poppy and Marie, gentle hugs.
I've been mia because the caravan site we were on had terrible wifi and next to no phone signal, it's astonishing how reliant we have become on instant access to information and to family and friends. We don't carry paper maps or guide books any more and of course there are no yellow pages or whatever to find places to eat. It's not so many years ago that on holiday you'd have to search for a pay phone to call home and say you'd arrived safely and then no more contact until you got home. Anyway we had a lovely time and ate lunch in various cafes and pubs which was novel and also very welcome. The weather was very changeable but we managed a very sunny walk on Wednesday near Aymestrey which encompassed some beautiful bluebell woods.
We were supposed to stay till this morning but given the worsening forecast we decided to come back last night so we've been given an extra day this week. I slept really well last night and didn't even wake to go to the loo till 7 which is great and very unusual. I'm popping down to Laura's today to spend a couple of hours with Esben, she is at college so it will give Brian a break. Esben went back to nursery for the day yesterday, he's been having settling in sessions over the past couple of weeks but obviously it's not been enough because he had a complete meltdown and Brian had to collect him. He's going in again for nearly 2 hours this morning so I hope he's ok today. I'm bringing Ziggy back with me for the weekend because they are going away for a couple of days and it will be easier without her, I just hope the weather co-operates and we can get some decent walks in.13 -
Morning all, especially Gers, Nelski, Poppy and others with health or other worries
Horribly windy out there still. I'm doing a bit of DGS care this morning as DD has an appointment regarding laser eye surgery and won't be able to drive for a while because of the eye drops. I'll probably meet her at the shops and have some lunch before coming back here until her eyes are ok for her to drive home.
I was out down the M1 last night and coming home at about 10.30pm my junction had been closed off with no warning so had to go all the way up to J15 and then back down the other side; not a short trip! We had also been down to one lane earlier and there had been an accident on the way down so things are returning to normal on the M1..........
No real plans for the weekend but if the weather settles down it would be good to get out for a while.
Have a good day everyone.11 -
Morning all
Very windy here too and has been all night there is more rain coming later on too, washing is on the go but will have to be dried indoors.
I have an appointment this morning so dd will do the morning dog walk and I will tke them out this afternoon hopefully the rain will hold off for a while.
Pie and mash for dinner tonight with some veg, I cleaned the freezer out yesterday and its now much more organised and I can see exactly what we have, the pie has been in there a while so will be good to use it up.
DW needs emptying and a quick tidy through, the rest can wait till tomorrow !
Gers thinking of you and your dear mum I hope you have a peaceful day xx
Have good days all xx11 -
Morning, hugs if you need one. Thinking as ever of Gers and her Mum.
Now a problem.......I have 2 sirlion steaks, I want to cook them in the oven, I like mine medium, DB will only eat his if it has been cremated......any tips on how to achieve this????
DD1 and family come over yesterday, Niblet was so pleased with his quilt he got undressed and went and laid on the settee with it over him.
I also gave him the book pillow he should have had at Christmas.
We have very high winds, and yesterday lashing rain. I doubt my gardener will come today unless the wind drops.
Usual supper tonight, fish and chips.9
