House ownership share agreement

hi there, does anyone know what happens when the signed deed/ agreement of shared 50/50 ownership goes missing? The original solicitor has since closed down. My partner is being brought out by his ex but apparently this document is needed to proceed and it doesn’t appear to exist anymore.

You need to find out which practice took on the old clients and paperwork from the firm who closed down.
How was the property registered? Tenants in common or joint ?Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.1 -
Good idea - we tried calling the original solicitor but the telephone message gives no details. I think it’s joint but he can’t be certain.0

Title deeds can be obtained / downloaded from the land registry for £3.

Contact these to ask about where the papers are:

edit:
There is should be no need for the document if both sides agree the split and payout.
Joint or TIC is not relevant when it comes to a sale/buyout you can have a DOT with both1 -
I thought about that after I posted, then got side tracked with work. If there's nothing to prove otherwise then with both names on it would be assumed 50/50.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.1

Thanks for the advice. Hopefully they don’t need the document then. They seem to have agreed the figure and if they are both happy with that then I’m sure it can progress. Every step seems to have a problem or a delay but it feels like we are getting somewhere now.0

Can anyone advise on if my boyfriend needs a solicitor? I know advice would be to have one, but what do they do aside from check what the other solicitor (his ex’s) says?0
