Subsidence

Hi, we've had our Survey back on a house we are buying. The surveyor pointed out there was some damp.. however he always said there were some cracks in the internal walls. Does this look like subsidence? It looks like its already been repaired but the vendors are making out the surveyor is incompetent and its all nonsense. They offered to reduce the price by £5k . Ive attatched a picture.

    Can't see it, but offering to lower by £5k does make out there is a known issue.
    If there was not, why would they lower the price?

    If there had been any subsidence and the repairs involved underpinning, there should be a record of it with the local council. Check the council's planning portal to see if any approvals have been granted. If the repairs were just limited to crack stitching (inserting steel rods in horizontal mortar joints, then filling with a high strength mortar), there won't be any council records. Same for plastering over the cracks... You need to know what the root cause is and what remedial action has been taken.
