SSE Pre payment Meter debt
Hi, is anyone repaying an Sse electric debt on a pre payment meter? I need to have one installed as cannot afford the huge bill I have as a lump sum. What time period do they let you repay the debt over? It’s a 2k debt so I need it as long as possible! Seem to get a different answer from everyone, some say 1 year (which will mean having to live without using any electric!) and 4 years? Also anyone that gets it taken out of their universal credit how much do they take?!
And yes I know the bill shouldn’t have gotten so big but a mixture of everyone constantly home for last 12 months and meter not being read for 2 years has resulted in this and I just need to prepare myself for repaying it!

You'll most likely get various answers to this, the best course of action that I can think of would be contacting SSE by email, phone etc and ask them what the terms are.
When they tell you get confirmation in writing, might be useful to have at some point.
