Reset Laptop

I'm asking all this, for a friend. She explained yesterday, she can't get into her laptop. It's giving the message, go to accounts.live.com. I told her this was her Microsoft account, and it was safe to do so. She then told me, she had put her name and address, and everything, but it didn't go any further. She then told me, the computer had, had a screen repair a year ago, and hadn't been used since, and they had xbox live account on it. She's les techy than I am, so I don't know if she will have a Windows disc ( it's a Windows 10 Laptop). She just want's to be able to use it again, so there's nothing it, that would be lost. Is there a way she could reset it to the factory settings, in the state it is?

    Hi

Next, and perhaps easier option, is to use a MS .iso file and do a clean install if there is no data to recover.
Use something like ANYBURN to create it, if the Microsoft method doesn't.

    Create Windows 10 installation media

To get started, you will first need to have a licence to install Windows 10. You can then download and run the media creation tool. For more information on how to use the tool, see the instructions below.

    If in doubt please ask.

    Hi
If it is/was a HP laptop.....

How to reset HP laptop in Windows Recovery Environment:

    1. Remove all external devices including USB drives and printers from the HP laptop.
    2. Turn on your computer and press the F11 key immediately and repeatedly.
    3. Release the key until you see the Choose an option window.
    4. Select Troubleshoot and then click Reset this PC.
    5. Choose from Cloud download and Local reinstall. (Optional)
    6. Choose from Keep my files and Remove everything.
    7. Then, follow the on-screen instructions to reset HP laptop to factory settings.
So make and model if you can please.

Thanks for the advice, but your first method, she can't do, as she doesn't have a disc, or the means to create one. It's a Lenovo laptop, which I later found out, so I found a video, how to reset a Lenovo, and she's going to try that, but she isn't at home at the moment.

    Hi
    Something like this I presume.....
    https://www.cocosenor.com/articles/computer/hard-reset-lenovo-laptop-to-factory-settings-without-password.html

AND she doesn't have anyone who could create any recovery media for her?
OR she has no access to another PC and a few pounds to buy the necessary USB?
