No, the duty cycle is the %age of time that it's working at that power. It's not chucking balls at him ALL the time, right?

No it bowls a ball every few seconds, but the motors don't stop in between. They run all the time at anything from about 30 mph to 100 mph

If it were me, I'd make sure that the male was always on the -ve side of the connections - so the +ve battery flylead has a female, going to a male on the machine's cable, and the -ve battery flylead has a male, going to a female on the machine's cable. That will ensure that you don't connect it wrong way round, as well as helping prevent any accidental shorting of the flyleads themselves. And PLEASE put a fuse in the +ve flylead!

But then you could directly join the battery + and -. You'd be better of with a proper electrical connector with a built in poka yoke and replace the spade connectors on the bowling machine, something like this would be safer

It would be possible, yes, but I was assuming a certain degree of competence on the part of the OP... <grin>

Make the flyleads short enough, and that won't be possible, though. And, of course, even if they did, the fuse would save them from themselves.

Ha ha, As you well know never assume, thats why they make plugs and sockets with a poka yoke
Good point regarding fly lead lengths, but my solution looks better :)
