Working Tax Credits / Universal Credit

Hi folks, im looking for some advice regarding if I'm eligible for working tax credits or as it now seems to be known as universal credit.
I work in hospitality and have been furloughed for about 7 months time time round, during this time I got a little top up from universal credit. (between £0- £90 depending on how much wages i had been paid.)
Now we are back at work and our hours maybe change slightly up from 27 to 30/33. Now one of my colleagues is quite happy about the hour increase because apparently, they will receive working tax credits if they work 30 hours. Is this true? If so would I also be entitled?
It just didn't make sense to me that they would give me money for working more hours, whereas I'm struggling with bills etc with the hours I'm currently on.
I'm a single male with no codependents currently living with one parent if they effects anything.
Any advice is appreciated, thank you!

They won't give you more Universal credit for working more hours. Your standard Uc amount will be £411 assuming you are over 25, and each pound you earn reduces that by 63p.
You are not entitled to working tax credits because no-one can make a new claim for working tax credits now. I0 -
Tax Credits is a very different benefit from UC. What you will be entitled to depends entirely on your take-home pay and how much your maximum UC entitlement is. I assume you have no health issues limiting your ability to work so with no dependent children you will not have the work allowance, therefore UC will deduct 63% of your take-home pay (i.e. your wage after tax and NI) from your maximum entitlement. Your previous statements in your UC journal will tell you what that maximum entitlement is.Unreal1ty said:Hi folks, im looking for some advice regarding if I'm eligible for working tax credits or as it now seems to be known as universal credit.
