Hi , I bought a car from arnold clark, the picture showed the car as grey , when I looked into the details online it said the car was brown , I queried it with Arnold clark and they said it was definitely grey , and it must be a mistake by the person inputting the details on the computer, but when I got the v5 back from the dvla it says brown on the v5 ,it also says on the v5 that you can amend it , but it says what is the new colour , but as far as I'm aware grey is the original colour it's not a new colour, does anyone know what I show do , tia , allan

What manufacturer, what is the actual colour code or name?
Some colours can look different in different lights.
When new cars are registered, the dealer doesn't actually write anything down. All the details come straight from the manufacturer's computer system - so if the V5C says "brown", then that's almost certainly what all cars of that particular colour code will say...
DVLA are very <sorry> black and white about it. They don't much do nuance. So if the colour's a sort of grey-brown, then just decide. The manufacturer clearly decided brown.
If you really want to change it, then write grey as the new colour. Because it's the colour replacing brown on the V5C.1 -
My car (not the one shown, but similar) is, according to the manufacturer, Lunar Sky.
Brown? Grey?Officially it's brown.1 -
So what car and what colour is it?
Is the paint something like 10-B-29 Vandyke Brown? Called "brown" but actually looks like iron grey?0 -
Does yours have a purple windscreen, too?RichardD1970 said:My car (not the one shown, but similar)...

Ford Stealth comes up as brown on V5s, look at it in certain lights and it does look brown.

Ford colours seem to be prone to it... My Focus is Midnight Sky. Which looked like a very dark blue in the brochure but is actually grey on the V5; dark grey in dull light and dark blue in bright sunlight.
My brother once successfully challenged a parking ticket on the grounds that the ticket said black and the V5 said green; the car was Ford Tourmaline Green - which is dark green in bright light but looks dark grey/black in the gloom.
I need to think of something new here...1 -
I don't think Ford are any different to any other car manufacturer.
Car manufacturers are no different to any other product manufacturer.
According to the link below, Lunar Sky is also known as Brisbane Brown and it states definitely brown:

It’s the motoring version of ‘The Dress’. 🤔
