Is there any chance of finding work if you are over 60 ?
After being made redundant back in September, although I have had second stage interviews a younger person always gets the job,.

I think your question is too vague.  Of course, there is a chance, it depends entirely on what kind of job you seek and what experience and qualifications you have.  With nothing further to go on, you are unlikely to receive many replies.

YES! 60 is NOT considered old any more. (Or it shouldn't be.)

But if you suspect that you are being overlooked for jobs because of your age, you should definitely ask for feedback. In fact, you should ask for feedback anyway, so you know what you need to do to improve your interview technique.

If you suspect age discrimination, you can take an employer to an Employment Tribunal. I did. I was over 60 when I applied for three jobs with the same employer - and I'd worked for them for a substantial period of time in the past. When the feedback I received after each separate interview made little sense to me I decided to take the employer to an Employment Tribunal.

I was made an offer, which I accepted, before the case actually came to court because I was able to prove that there was discrimination in their recruitment process. Sadly, a lot of employers do still discriminate, although they are not supposed to.

I then decided to set up my own online business instead of working for others. However, when there IS age discrimination, employers are breaking the law.

Do read up on the Equality Act 2010, I quoted it a lot as I was preparing my case. There's a govt summary here -

    https://www.gov.uk/guidance/equality-act-2010-guidance

But if you google it, there is a lot of information on the internet too.

Yes - it can be done.
I left a teaching role when I was 60 and moved to a secretarial job (for which I had formal qualifications).
I progressed with that organisation, leaving as a "senior manager" seven years later and took a couple of years out before applying for another office job (but not management) aged 69 where I stayed for over 2 years.

Many thanks. Even as a nearly 40 year old going to an interview today to be given the impression I was the oldest candidate and told it was a job "doing what a 16 year old could with their eyes closed" and was it the best thing for me.? In time, I will appreciate the honesty. I cannot afford to be trying to compare n compete at 14k and wouldn't even try. It just seems to me to be Employers wanting to pay the lowest as the person indicated today, the younger others qualify to be paid £14k as opposed to shelling out of 18.5k for the oldest. But then again recent times I've also had a three stage recuitment process where I pulled out as the would-be governor was in his fifties and quite ill, being the primary business owner it scared me to much so ageism all round I'm afraid.

    Probably depends on the job.
B&Q were noted for focussing on older workers at one point.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

I sent B&Q my CV twice for vacancies they had, didn't even get a reply. Can someone be over qualified ?

Perhaps that wasn't the appropriate method of application, to the best of my knowledge the process is an on-line application.
Few large employers accept CV's nowadays, not leas they tend not to be compliant with equalities legislation.

Yes, or they could simply have used the wrong method of application. Try applying online, which is the only method B&Q now accept: https://www.bandqcareers.com/faqs

Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!
