No Finance agreement set up for vehicle, no payments made, do I need to pay for Co's mistake.

Hi, first time on here, so please be gentle.
I bought 4 vans at the same time from the same company for my ltd co business in 06/19. All good.
Later that year our business took a down turn, not all covid, but it did nt help. We downsized the business accordingly up til date. Staff, vehicles, units etc.
2 weeks ago had a call from the van supplier saying that one van had not been paid for, which I initially thought was a scam, but after checking, it appears that no payments were ever taken, but was missed as there was multiple transaction being set up taken at that time.
We were given some options to keep the van, but explained that the company was likely to close or liquidate soon. the company said they were the owner, we are the keeper with the v5 present and they need to pick up the van, so it does not get involved with any liquidation etc, but could not tell me what my position would be and where does it leave my company financially. After much to and fro and some frayed tempers, the company appointed a debt collection agency to pick up the van.
I explained the issue to this company, as I understand the van needs to be returned, however, my reason to keep the van was to have some security for my Co's position. Whilst discussing, I mentioned that we had never received or signed any agreement for this vehicle, although we did have the vehicle etc. Debt collector said this may have some baring on the situation and would come back to me.
The supplier said that did nt matter, they still would be taking the van back and it due to be picked tomorrow.
My question is if the debt collector thought there was a problem as there was no signed agreement, is my Co, liable for the outstanding debt they say they will be charging me for once the van is sold, although they cant tell me how much this would be. We have asked the supplier for a copy of any agreement and to date they have chosen to ignore the request.
I have spoken with CA, Trading standards, business debt line (who were great), Lawyers 4 Business but no one seems to advise me on my position and whether I should let the van be handed back tomorrow and lose any security we may have.

It's a business to business issue so consumer rights don't really apply, need to check contracts that were set up.

It really needs to be drawn out properly who all the different parties are and what the agreements were and what paper trail there is.

In principle you are saying you agreed to buy a vehicle, that purchase was going to be covered by finance but to date no payments have been made by the company. As such you have a vehicle that you know you havent paid for and are now refusing to return it or make the payment which therefore risks putting it into the category of theft.

Did you actually buy the vans? Or lease/hp them?
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride
