Mercedes parts and warranty

Hi I'm looking for some advice on warranty.
My A180s turbo went and I took it to a local garage. The local garage advised me to order the turbo parts from mercedes themselves and that's exactly what I did. The garage fixed the car and I had the car three weeks before the turbo started going... AGAIN! I rang Merc who told me to bring the car to them to investigate. However, they have listened to the car and have agreed it is the turbo which was supplied by them however they have now rang me and told me I have to pay £2500 for them to strip the car. They told me The reason they need to charge me 2500 for the check is that they need to send the part of to check that the turbo hasn't been starved of oil. They can't strip the car without payment cos it apparently will void warranty on car parts because they didn't fit it. If it hasn't and it is the part at fault they will issue a full refund. If it has been starved however, I have to chase money from the garage who fitted it. Am I still liable to pay that fee or should the warranty I have on all the parts be covered? (All parts surrounding turbo came from mercedes with 2 year warranty).
Thanks in advance

You need to take it to the garage that supplied the parts and did the work.Merc will charge you for any work, and why not? They don't work for free, and the job was nothing to do with them.I suspect there is a well known (to Merc) "feature" of the A180 that causes reduced oil flow to the turbo, and is the reason that the original failed. (Audis have a "feature" that does this, as the oil pickup pipe clogs, the first casualty is the turbo bearings)If this wasn't addressed, then the second turbo will have gone the way of the first, and it won't be covered (which is why Merc want to inspect it off the car before they will agree to a warranty replacement). If Merc are doing the work, you will be paying thousands. If this is the case, then claiming against your original garage for not doing the job right might fly, but they are never going to cough for Merc labour rates without a lot of kicking and screaming, when you should have brought the car back to them in the first place. If you supplied the parts for your garage to fit, then they may charge you to remove them and send them off to Merc for investigation.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

Unfortunately, that's what happens when you supply the parts yourself. When it goes wrong, nobody wants to take responsibility. The garage will say the turbo must have been faulty. Mercedes will say the turbo was fitted wrong. You are left paying the bill to find out which it is.If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.1 -

Can you tell us what parts you bought from merc and what did you pay for themand what did you pay for the fitting of the turbobelieve it or not it all depends on the how the turbo failed, ie: was is just smoking blue burning oil but still driving or did the turbo shaft snap causing the oil to be sucked into the intercooler and other parts of the intake, ive done a fair few turbos on vw's and i would never do one without a brand new oil feed pipe, did that once because the customer was a tightwad willing to take the risk and yeah 2 months later new turbo gone why turbo feed pipe blocked. he thought we was trying to get more money out of him by replacing the pipe guess he was wrong. so now we just refuse to the job with that type of customer.so we need a bit more information to enable to help you
